The Private Sector Commission meeting with the Indian High Commissioner to Guyana, His Excellency Venkatachalam Mahalingam.

The Private Sector Commission on Tuesday August 8, 2017 met with the Indian High Commissioner to Guyana, His Excellency Venkatachalam Mahalingam. Matters discussed included bilateral agreements for trade and investment in the areas of call centres, sugar and renewable energy.

There have been stable diplomatic relations between Guyana and India since the 1960’s and Guyana continues to benefit from assistance from the Indian Government. Most recently a Memorandum of Understanding for US$82 million line of credit was signed and US$50 million was also allocated towards the construction of the road link from East Coast of Demerara to the East Bank of Demerara.

The Private Sector Commission looks forward to collaborating with the Indian Government on mutual areas of interest, investment and development.
