As it relates to the ERC, the Minister said that she has no intension of interfering with the work of the ERC; instead, the focus is to collaborate with the ERC.  The PSC values this statement as we believe in the independence of the ethnic relations body.intension of interfering with the work of the ERC; instead, the focus is to collaborate with the ERC.  The PSC values this statement as we believe in the independence of the ethnic relations body.

Minister Ally said that the Government would like to see the ERC becoming operational as earlier as possible, hence the Government is willing to have the Commissioners that were elected by the 10th Parliamentary Committee assented to once the Opposition approves of them. The PSC was part of this electoral process and supports the position of the Minister.

The Private Sector Commission sees the Ministry of Social Cohesion as a very important Ministry and feels that a lot of value can be added to the country if the Ministry focuses heavily on its mission which is national cohesion.
