Press Release – Meeting with a Team from the US Department of Justice

The Private Sector Commission met with a team from the United States of America, Department of Justice, on Friday, August 14, 2015, to have an all-inclusive discussion on the functionality, professionalism and general prospective of the Guyana Police Force to aid in the execution of a two week standard professional course with the Force.

PSC took the opportunity to address concerns such as the recent spike in crime, the inability of the Force to investigate ‘white collar’ crimes, the resuscitation of an effective 911 system and the implementation of an incentive scheme for officers.

The DoJ team noted that successful implementation of their plans, would result in a more professional Guyana Police Force and the development of a Standard Operating Manual that would guide the activities of the Force.

The PSC welcomes this program and calls on the Government and the Guyana Police Force, to show full support to the team.
